It’s a strong contender for being number one in my opinion, there have been so many absolutely incredible releases across a solid number of genres. I honestly can’t believe that there are people who seriously think this has been a bad year.

I don’t get these kinds of threads whatsoever. Every single year has roughly the same amount of games that become “critically acclaimed”. Most AAA games that get critically acclaimed I don’t even find particularly interesting. It’s usually the same thing we’ve already experienced with a bit better graphics than last year. Many of the best games each year don’t even get much exposure at all.
Not like that matters anyway. To me it was just another year of some great games, many ok games, and many bad games
