Looking back, the gameplay was kinda weak. Not bad, but there’s not much to the game. You basically just have jump and spray. You can’t really do any tricks and there isn’t much of any depth to the gameplay when compared to tony hawk games of the time. Spraying graffiti is on the whole uninteresting.

The soundtrack and atmosphere 100% make the game

Better idea:

Go back to the age where you just put in a disc, turn the power on, and it goes right into the game with 0 bs and menus

Many of these games aren’t particularly interesting to me. The best years in gaming are gone, as innovation became replaced with reiteration and monetization.

It’s definitely not perfect and has a number of flaws, but it’s at least as close to perfect as third strike (which admittedly also has a good amount of flaws).

A work shouldn’t be judged by how many flaws but the overall package. Smash melee is flawed too and yet it has higher highs than any other smash game.

Garou is perhaps the tightest feeling and most responsive fg ever made. Sure the top tier characters are kinda broken but the same can be said of most fgs

Guilty gear xx accent core plus r deserves the #1 spot imo. The amount of depth and room for player expression is unsurpassed. Plus it has the best roster, game speed, music, and overall style

I don’t get these kinds of threads whatsoever. Every single year has roughly the same amount of games that become “critically acclaimed”. Most AAA games that get critically acclaimed I don’t even find particularly interesting. It’s usually the same thing we’ve already experienced with a bit better graphics than last year. Many of the best games each year don’t even get much exposure at all.

Not like that matters anyway. To me it was just another year of some great games, many ok games, and many bad games
