Yesterday I was flying from Charles de Galle (CDG) airport to Atlanta (ATL) and I then had another connection flight. I COMPLETELY forgot about it as toward the middle of the flight I started using the in-seat entertainment. Well I ran off the flight without looking back and now the steam deck lives somewhere else. I contacted the airline (Air France) but if you guys see a DBrand switch steam deck in the wild… it brought me a lot of good times.

RIP: Steam Deck

I’m blown away by how many posts like this I’ve seen. People just put it down in a public space and walk away (it gets stolen) or they leave it behind on an airplane. How is that even possible?! The thing is massive. Not to mention crazy expensive like… Don’t you know how to take care of your shit? Jesus. It’s wild. Absolutely wild the carelessness I read about on these types of posts regularly.

Also, the obligatory “sorry for your loss” so I don’t seem like a COMPLETE asshole. Right? That’s how that works…?

Some people are just accident prone ig. I make sure everything is in my bag whenever I get off a flight after I had a near miss forgetting my phone on a plane.

Ah yes, because people can be utterly perfect and not make careless mistakes at all right?

Shit happens even when you’re super careful and even with expensive stuff. Asking for how people can be careless is the equivalent of asking how people can get into car accidents or lose their wallets. No one is perfect, but you make it sound like people who lose these things are inherently sloppy. It’s not even as if this is a commonplace thing since the number of SDs lost is a miniscule percentage of the number of people who actually own it; people aren’t going to post “I still have my SD” topics after all, and naturally people posting these just need an outlet to vent.

You even acted like a jerk in your last sentence so yes, you do come off as a complete asshole. Work on your own issues before making unhelpful, snide remarks about others.
