Against perhaps my better judgement I had an Electrify HomeStation installed at my home in March 2023. I purchased it brand new from a credible online retailer and had a licensed electrician hardwire the device to comply with all local codes and successfully passed city inspection. Everything was working fine until about mid summer 2023. Around this time I began experiencing regular failures with the device:

  • Would disconnect from my home wifi
  • App was incorrectly reporting charge history, in fact displaying a negative number
  • App stopped recording charge history

…and perhaps the most troubling of all

  • When plugged in to my vehicle overnight, off peak hours, the charger would frequently blow fuses without warning, resulting in an incomplete charge

I contacted EA many times about this issue, to the same effect as shouting into the abyss. Eventually, after make enough noise, the abyss answered.

After several more weeks and lengthy calls with customer service it was determined that my charger was defective and hazardous to keep using. EA said they would replace the charger under warranty but I was responsible for installation costs from licensed electrician. Great, this was a reasonable solution.

Plot twist! Because the charger was not purchased DIRECTLY FROM EA - IT HAS NO WARRANTY! Once EA determined that I did not purchase directly from them, the company backtracked on all responsibility, refused to provide a replacement, and stopped returning my calls and emails.

5 months after installation, I now have a several thousand dollar ticking time bomb attached to my home that could cause severe damage at any moment, and 100% of replacement and installation costs are mine EVEN THOUGH EA confirmed that the unit is DEFECTIVE FROM THE FACTORY.

AVOID DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS SHAM COMPANY AND USING THEIR GARBAGE PRODUCTS AS IF YOUR LIFE AND THE LIVES OF YOUR FAMILY DEPEND ON IT

This “credible online retailer” is probably eBay.

There are users with suspiciously few reviews selling large quantities of brand-new Electrify America level 2 chargers at less than half of the retail price.

    They are probably counterfeit units.
