Worst team since 2000 and had 23 drafts, yet only drafted once in Top 3 (RJ) and Kristaps would be the only other Top 5 pick.

Makes me hate the Sixers even more for the “Process” to have 4 Top 3 in 4 years when we took 20 years for one this century.

This also speaks volume to how hard it is to get out of mediocrity. Drafting is important but constantly drafting 7-13 means you miss out on the real elite players.

Being really bad in 2008 but not bad enough for a Top 5 pick means Gallo and not Westbrook or Ross. Same for 2009. Missed out on Curry and Harden.

Sometimes it’s just worth having a 12 win season instead of 24 wins. The Post Allan Houston and Pre-Melo era (like Isiah Thomas era) was all about being competent to win games but never good enough to be a serious team. Which was fine for the time since we were so legit the previous 15 years. But Dolan would spend so much to keep us winning 30 games when getting 2-3 Top 5 guys woudlve saved us. Like Love/Harden over Jordan Hill and Gallo.

But that’s all in the past. Most people seem to be positive on Rose/Thibs/Wes/Perry. I know some people mad we didn’t trade for a superstar etc etc etc.

But since they came into the organization (All between Feb-October 2020) we have made the playoffs twice and drafted IQ and Grimes at value positions. Also added Brunson our biggest Free Agent since Randle (or Amare) and then added great role players.

So I am pretty optimistic about the next 5-10 years with this team.

Well yeah, that’s how you become the worst team over a twenty year span – by being really bad but never being bad enough to get draft picks
