  • Obviously the goal is homegrown but feels like everyone moves on in the NBA.

Both Walt and Ewing played multiple seasons on other Franchises. What really matters is where you legacy is made and if you play on that team for like 75% of your career you’ll be remembered for it.

Wade went to Bulls and Cavs, but will always be remembered as a Heat legend

    Hakeem went to the Raptors.

People wrote off Jordan on the Wizards but he played for the Wizards for 2 years!

    Malone was a Laker

Paul Pierce known as a Celtic, went to Wizards and Clippers.

So it’s possible to carve out a legacy on one franchise and not ONLY play for that franchise. Being drafted there helps, heck Kareem won a RING in MIL, but he’s also very synonymous with the Lakers.

So it just feels good to have a lot of our guys be only Knicks or likely be remembered as Knicks given their trajectory

For once, it Feels good man

  • Melo years were great but not adding 1st round talent (2 lottery picks) in 2012, 2014, 2016 really stifled our future chances. If we had those picks we could have added young pieces to the team.

We finally have a successful winning team, young talent, assets and decent job with cap.

Melo years we had a winning team, old talent, no assets and tbh idk about the Cap but I do know one year in the 00s we spent more in tax than the actual cap and we didn’t even make the playoffs that year, so I doubt we handled the cap well back in like 2013. The future wasn’t bright

We have on court success AND future potential and assets for the first time since the 1990s.

Man is this the best time I’m having as a Knick fan in my 20 or so years of watching

  • “This could be the one!”

    “OHHH MANNN”

The Paul George 360 dunk call stays ingrained in my head.

As a Knick fan I grew up with Mike Breen who I think is the undeniable GOAT as a professional, a broadcaster and a human being.

I’ve since been using illegal streams and not have the Knicks call. I will say the Pacers are one of the few that hold their own.

I will also say the Suns is probably the worst and most lackluster and with a good amount of bias too. I feel bad for Suns fans during this era when they’re so good. Maybe I listened to their B team but the old man and the lady just don’t pack the same punch as the other teams

  • First off, NY is a GIANT market. So the Knicks have millions of fans. And it’s also common for people to leave NY as they get older.

This year we saw Knick fans in DC take over and chant Let’s Go Knicks. We also saw this in MSG Miami when we took over the Heat chants. There’s a couple other venues we’re known for filling up more seats than home team.

Secondly, lots of celebrities support us, even when we’re bad. But this also makes competition step up bc they want to look good for their favorite rapper, actor, ball player whatever. High stake games also lead to higher stake emotions. A lot of fan bases do have famous fans BUT they don’t show out unless they’re good. I remember it was such a big deal that like Kevin Hart and Will Smith were going to a Sixers game in 2018, bc they were finally good. Bc the previous 5 years they sucked so bad celebrities wouldn’t show their face. We can (and have been) the worst team in the league and have had A-lost celebrities show up to the game.

The first two points are fairly unique to us, I guess Laker fans are everywhere and also have celebrities at games.

Third point is we suck, we actually sucked for the 21st century. Entering November 2023 we were the worst team in the 21st century. We have since passed up the Hornets and I think Wizards now. Ups and downs happen. Sometimes bad teams get pity BUT then it becomes a meme like lolknicks. I’m sure Cleveland Brown fans know the feeling. When franchises turn around after being bad a couple seasons they’re beloved again. Seems like Kings got that. OKC was hated by some fan bases in 2015ish bc of KD Westbrook dominance but now they’re the up and coming team. We weren’t bad for 3/4 years to rebuild. It was 20 years of sucking with a 3 year pause of being good.

People position franchise and teams against one another, they might hate the Lakers but it’s also the gold standard with 17 rings. Knicks though, are still the shit franchise of 21st century with loud fans and no results. This image won’t be scrubbed soon. It will take a 90s Knicks like run, like 14 straight playoffs or like 10 in 12 years min. Sixers did a decent job of being the shittiest team ever and an embarrassment to constant playoff team. While their fans might be in turmoil, nba media is fine covering them knowing they’re good for 50 wins.

Knicks simply haven’t proved enough yet to other fanbases or media to get love. We would have it now if we made playoffs in 2021, but literally up till the Cavs series 2021 was a fluke bc we didn’t follow up. And even now people wonder if we can live up to 2023 playoffs, bc if we don’t, the media doesn’t want to take the chance on us flip flopping every year bc good and underperforming.

4th point is Dolan. Dolan sucks, players hate him, coaches hate him, owners hate him. When a player or coach you respect says something negative about Dolan and you’re not a Knick fan it makes you look poorly at the franchise. Less pity and more like “fuck that team” I don’t like the Clippers but I love how invested Steve Balmer is on everything. He fucking cares.

5th point is our brand of basketball. Casuals don’t care about advanced stats. We hold teams to under 100 consistently while other teams let up over 120 a night, people don’t recognize that if our numbers were adjusted for 120ppg they’d be so much better. But when we win 104-99, people don’t realize we had to slow down the game. 25/7 game for Brunson would be like a 32/9 if we did 124 that night.

Last point is we have no star player, yes Brunson and Randle are all-star level guys. But we don’t have a Curry or Lebron or KD or Luka or Jokic or Giannis or Embiid. The list goes on. We had Melo be all-nba 3x and Randle twice. So like 5 times in like 25 years we had guys who are really good. This makes us hard for non Knick fans to become a Knick fan. A big reason why people like teams is because they like a player

Nothing on the stats shows we are elite to casuals. But if you watch the game and see how we are 8-9 men deep, you realize that this team is built to win.

So combine traveling fans that take over arenas (which annoys people) having celebrities at games, being shitty, having a bad owner and lackluster play style, and no real Star player you can see why it’s hard for non-Knick fans to really be drawn to this team

  • I didn’t like the hype from media this year. I saw what I saw with my own eyes and knew this was a decent class but like every year they need to hype it up so you watch the draft.

Wemby obviously shows insane flashes and we know he’s a future all-star.

Havent seen a lot of Scoot and as a Top 3 pick he’s crucial to the draft

I watched Miller have a killer game vs the Knicks. He gives off vibes of a guy who can do 20/0/0 game but I def see him as a future all-star

Both Thomason’s seem to play very very hard. So the Top 5 picks to me seem solid.

    Other Rookies I like:

Hawkins is a sniper. I loved the UConn run this year but thought he was an early 2nd rounder not mid 1st. BUT UConn, skinny shooter, I wonder if Ray and Rip can mentor him a bit more, if the teams want to hire a shooting coach bc he has potential to be an ELITE shooter

Bilal Coulibaly: Wizards are going to be a bottom tier team and Bilal won’t have any real impact on the standings but he’s a guy to look out for.

Jaime Jaquez: Dude is LEGIT but limited in role. His team is solid and his play style is limited in pros due to advanced length and athleticism that wasn’t there in college. He is good, he fits the team, BUT I don’t know if his ceiling is much higher than 15/5/3

  • If I’m being honest the risk reward for this specific skill doesn’t seem worth it.

I know for a fact I couldn’t do this. It would take years of training. I guess it’s cool he gets to be center of the court for half time but like how does one come across the idea of HANDSTANDING on BASKETBALLS on weird platforms.

Like hand standing alone is difficult, now doing that on a ball is more impressive. But overall this is crazy

  • I don’t see the Rockets

If their picks work out then they have to pay them. Sengun, Green, Jabari, Thompson, KPJ looking for money? It works now that they improved bc Brooks and FVV can get paid while these guys are rookie scaled.

But once they have to pay them market value, they won’t be able to supppment veterans. While some look good, none are game changing.

Wolves are an example of the opposite. KAT zis multiple time all star, Gobert DPOY, Ant sky is the limit. They’re somewhat limited in assets short term because of Gobert trade but it’s almost like a piece away.

  • He says he wants to retire when he thinks he can’t give it his all

But he spent more time in the league than out of it, idk if it’ll be that easy.

Lowkey think he pulls a Brady

    1. Leaves LA to join some “Superteam” or shit in like 2025 and doesn’t have to do as much.

    2. Retire and then decides he actually can’t do that bc he doesn’t know what it’s like to retire, then he gets a farewell tour the following season and eases into retirement better

  • The term would be overvalued not overrated.

But a team like Houston has played well the first 10+ games and a much better trajectory than Pistons who were basically the same caliber last year

FVV is overpaid but since so much of the team is rookie contracts they can afford it. It’s hard to put a price in turning around a franchise but since Rockets can afford to “overpay” FVV, he’s not really being overvalued for the franchise.

The answer of who is most overvalued might still be Tobias Harris making near $40m this has prevented Philly from truly getting a serious 3rd option since Jimmy left. Embiid is 30 this season and his best teammate is a blossoming star. Not saying Philly “lucked out” but Maxey was not a sure shot to pan out.

Embiid is supposed to be in the middle of his prime but so is Giannis and Jokic both with 2x the MVPs and a ring. Embiid is consistently missing more games than the other two and doesn’t quite seem to have the team around him to win. Sixers are good but not serious contenders since they haven’t proved to me they can make it past the second round.

A large reason for this is Tobias is eating up too much of the cap. For perspective a guy like Jalen Brunson 2 years from now is going to make around $15m less than Tobias Harris is making right now. Imagine Brunson and $15m player or just Tobias Harris.

This highlights why contracts aren’t the same. Rockets can overpay due their timeline. Sixers with an injury prone 30+ can’t afford not to give him a Jimmy Butler. And as soon and Tobias’ money is freed up, Maxey gonna be looking for a $200m extension.

  • Yes this is by far the worst subreddit ever.

Whenever I defend Julius Randle I’m Downvoted.

Whenever I say Brunson is not a Top 10 PG I’m downvoted

Knicks fans do not live in reality, Knicks fans are delusional. It’s toxic when we’re bad and it’s more toxic when we are good.

For a team as bad as we have been for the last 25 years, you’d think some fans would be grateful for the Julius Randle era, but it’s the opposite. People want our front office fired, they want Randle traded.

We are having our best start in a decade, made playoffs 2 times in the last 3 years, and entering November 2023 we were the WORST team since 2000. (Now 2nd worst).

I am so happy with how the Knicks are performing but half this sub is angry all the time and hates our Superstar PF
