This won’t ever be a popular thing. People have been hyping replay feature as competitive single player forever.
We have competitive multiplayer already and we have speed running for single player games. No one is competing in single player this way - it doesn’t remove the randomness of it, just the starting point.
It does have its niches for helping people who struggle with sections… but even this isn’t that useful. I have kids, if you help them through sections then they don’t develop the skills needed for the next sections. Levels and bosses are designed purposefully to teach you the skills needed to pass the continual harder sections. It really only works for badly designed bullshit.
It’s like if in school someone was struggling with 5th grade so you did all their work so they could get to 6th grade. Now they will struggle even more because they didn’t learn the fundamentals through failure.
