These last two games are full indication that we need a new slot who can actually get open. Other teams look at two players on our offense, Sutton and vonte. They cover Sutton and load the box. No other wr gets open —> Russ has to hold trying buy time for the others and the oline gets beat and sack/hold. By no means am i saying the oline is great penalties are BAAD. But theyre holding up against pretty damn good pass rush. Mims is nice but hes deep threat, Sutton is red zone. Missing dulchich is really screwing us, we need someone to fill that roll as a wr2/wr1 and we need one that can get open.
Part of the problem is that Russ can’t see the middle of the field unless he rolls out of the pocket.
And when he does no one is available play action is only good if you don’t just have to check it down to your RBs
