No thanks. For whatever wild reason, the last 5 teams the broncos played have just refused to run the ball despite getting like 10 yards a carry. I don’t think McDaniel would fall into that. The run defense is still mostly trash.
Unfortunately I think the dolphins are smart enough to just run the ball 50 times if that’s what it takes and they’ll embarrass the broncos again.
Not to take away from what they’ve done, but 5 teams in a row that just decided to stop running when they’re getting 10 yards a carry in close games is pretty mind-boggling.
If you watched the guy he replaced you’d be begging for a grandmother out there with a flyswatter
The Broncos were doing the same things under Ellis, no need to look outside the organization. A side benefit of hiring Payton is that he’s established he knows what he’s doing, and you can give him time to pull things together.
I don’t think he’s worth $250M to be a game manager, and his production has not been worth the draft capital given up.
That said, it’s still the best option out of everything that was available. I think his potential is at least part of why Payton ended up in Denver. Outside of some incredible mental gymnastics that somehow land a guy like Stroud AND pair him with competent coaching, I feel like we are on the best possible timeline between what the team was two years ago and what it is now.
All time percentage leader (min 200 attempts)
Fixed that right up
He’s got me believing. I felt like he looked really good yesterday against the best defense in the league, probably his most complete performance so far this year. It was nice to see them pad a lead and not have to resort to heroics in the last 2 minutes, although he has done that very well this year too. I still don’t believe he’s worth $50M a year, but as long as they’re winning it ain’t my money.
I’m glad that people are finally coming back around on that guy. He gave the Broncos his best years at a bargain rate, and he was a huge part of winning that super bowl. He wanted to get paid after all that he contributed and Ellis / Elway didn’t want to pay him, of course he was upset. I don’t blame him one bit.
Now that he’s removed from the game and from that situation, it seems he genuinely loved the Broncos and their fans and wants to be a part of it. I, for one, welcome it with open arms.
He was already complaining about his playing time in Indy while not being good enough to earn more. The Broncos just ate 2 contracts to get rid of guys like that.
No thanks.
Is there a waiting period for the ring of fame? I know there is for the hall of fame but this is the first I’m hearing about the ring.
Because it’s about aesthetics, not character.
Crazy… I was in high school same time as Shanny Jr. My school beat his for state football champs.
The only thing that bums me out about McDaniels and the raiders is that they didn’t keep him around for a few more years. Fuck him and above all else fuck the raiders. They deserved each other.
I don’t feel good about this game at all.
Broncos have been through the gauntlet with good defenses and been okay, but they’ve been very turnover dependent AND the winning streak has featured a bunch of teams that are not committed to running the ball. Cleveland is a good running team that is going to be even more compelled to keep it on the ground with their QB situation. That’s going to limit turnover opportunities and go right after the Broncos’ weakest point.

Kindly requesting you post this in the AFC West meme war sub
I love Kareem and his old school style of play. I don’t think he’s dirty but I do think his level of intensity at the very least puts him under a microscope. I would be pretty surprised if he doesn’t get suspended again. Which really sucks with Locke out, because the talent drop after him is tremendous.
They fined him for hitting a pile to stop a running back last time, they’ll absolutely ding him for hitting a quarterback in the face.
It’s almost like the Shanahan system produces good players at all levels. WEIRD.
Gee, maybe that guy should get consideration for like, some sort of accolade that they give to people that have had a profound effect on the game.
