The defense is still (surprisingly) really good, despite inconsistent pass rush and secondary play. The problem is they give up points or are unable to get off the field in critical moments (PHI, ATL, HOU). They can still finish strong, but they need to get lockdown in critical moments against solid opponents, and the offense needs to score 20+ consistently.
Tie game with 45 seconds and let the falcons go get an easy FG to win. It’s not the defenses fault overall but Jesus, they make it was too easy on the other team at the worst possible time.
Maybe some of the blame goes on the offense, who scored all of 3 points in the 2nd half that game, along with an INT damn near in the red zone with under 4 minutes to go.
I agree, in 6 games we’ve given up 20 or less. Outside of the Texans the most we’ve allowed is 25 points to the 8-1 Eagles. It’s confusing to me that Bowles seems to only get hate here when you at least have to give him credit for the defense. We’re 8th in points allowed, and 23rd in points scored. If the offense get going consistently, we can actually make some noise

Offense was shit against the Eagles and Falcons. Hard to blame those losses on the defense.
Not blaming the defense, both those games were primarily on the offense. But it’s a weakness the defense has that’s worth considering.
