I don’t understand the hate for Baker. I guess they want to see Trask? Or they became Bucs fans during the Brady era? Anyone who watched the Bucs between Brad Johnson and Brady would know how incredible it is that the Bucs are getting at least average qb play right now. Too many holes on the roster, Bowles, and a lack of explosiveness are the main problems, not quarterback.

  • The defense is still (surprisingly) really good, despite inconsistent pass rush and secondary play. The problem is they give up points or are unable to get off the field in critical moments (PHI, ATL, HOU). They can still finish strong, but they need to get lockdown in critical moments against solid opponents, and the offense needs to score 20+ consistently.

  • It’s possible. They’ll probably need to go on a three game win streak against the Colts, Panthers and Falcons to get above .500 and get the tiebreaker over ATL. After that, they’ll have to win at least two of their remaining four (unless the Saints and Falcons completely collapse).

So, they’ll have to win at least four, but probably five or six of their remaining ten games. It’s doable, but difficult with so many division games, a fairly solid Indy team, and the unpredictable Jags.

  • I really hope we do not follow in the footsteps of the Panthers. Everyone says the Bucs mortgaged the future for a SB, but all they did is empty the Glazer’s fat wallets for mercenaries, which is what every SB team does. The FO didn’t make any big asset trades (players/picks).

A mediocre to mid team trading the farm for a young rookie QB without the talent or coaching to support him is how you end up with… whatever the fuck that TNF game was. I think Young still has potential, but he has no support with how godawful that team is outside of a couple players on defense. I’d much rather keep talent in house, draft and develop a rookie, and resign Baker as a bridge. And fire Todd Bowles of course.

  • I’ve been off and on with this sub for 8 or so years now. You might remember my incredibly accurate hot takes such as “why we should resign Doug Martin” and “Kenny Bell: future #2 wide receiver.”

It really is incredible how much this sub has grown. What’s more incredible is how active some users are years later. I don’t know if that’s incredibly commendable or incredibly pathetic, but it’s incredible either way.

There’s definitely been an exodus since Brady left, but it kinda reminds me of the old days. It gives me a sense of nostalgic dread, but a familiar kind of nostalgic dread. The mods still do a great/tyrannical job, and the memes are still as spicy as Taco Bell’s mildest sauce, and I absolutely love it.
