When switching out the main fuel pump relay it did not make a “click” sound that you would hear like with the fuel pump electrical connector. I applied some silicone lubricant to the electrical connector but no sound was made after attaching the relay.

This is an older vehicle I am working with. How do I ensure the relay is properly seated in the electrical connector?

If there is a locking tab you could visually inspect and see if it is locked. If it is not locking all of the way I would check the small rubber seal that is likely on one of the connectors. Those can get dirty over time and prevent them from locking. Remove it, clean it then reinstall and try to connect.

It fits securely and can’t be pulled off without pressing the locking tab, I just haven’t heard the sound I normally hear when attaching the connectors. I have used some compressed air to clear some of the debris and applied some silicone lubricant. What do you recommend using to clean the connector?
