Ramsdale has always had problems with positioning and shot stopping. He’s not very good at penalties either.
His strengths, and why he was recruited in the first place, lie in the fact that we was seen to be good with the ball at his and thus more suited for us (a team who wished to play out the back) than Leno was.
He performed very well during the first half of last season, but his regression in form during the latter half of the season was bad. Not suitable for a team on a title push.
Now whether or not he was overperforming during the first half of last season and subsequently regressed to the mean, or that he has genuinely regressed I can’t really tell. He’s young (for a goal keeper) an I expect that he can still develop and improve upon things.
