I built my pc around 2018, has a i7 8700k, Evga 1080ti FTW3, 48gb RAM, 2TB SSD. I use my PC a lot for producing music in ableton and do some gaming. It’s never really given me issues gaming I mostly game in 1080p or 1440p but when running tons of tracks in ableton and a lot of VSTs my cpu usage will be pretty high and sometimes cause issues running smoothly. My motherboard is a Asrock Z370 killer sli/ac so it’s designed for 8th gen CPUs but I updated the bios and it says it added support for 9th gen, also my i7 says it pulls the same amount of power the i9 does I read where some people said the vrms are weaker on my motherboard but I won’t really be doing any overlocking. Would this board be sufficient? Would it be worth an upgrade? Would I see any noticeable performance gains going from a i7 8700k to the i9 9900k?

Don’t put a 9900k. Sell old parts and put towards new parts.

    12900k, 13600k etc kill 9900k.
