Title says it all. My 2TB Sabrent drive with Steam OS on it bricked on boot after an update. I’m not too worried about the games anymore as I plan on getting the OLED so downloading speeds are going to be wicked fast once it comes in. That said there’s locked partitions on the drive and I can’t seem to reformat it. I’m not as savvy as I would like to be with Linux so besides following tutorials I get lost pretty easy when it comes to using Konsole. I have a PC and haven’t had enough time to try a full wipe from windows so if that is my only option I’m able too, but not until the holidays are over. I tried to clone my 1TB drive back over to it and it went all the way through, but upon installing the drive again it had the same boot issue where it just locks up with the Steam icon. I tried bios tricks like putting it in battery storage mode and no dice. I tried installing stem OS through a different drive and again came up empty so I’d like to just format the drive to a like new blank drive and start from scratch using the deck as the means to do so, I have the working drive installed and on but can’t find instructions on how to completely wipe a drive to an “as new” state for /sda.
Anyone find themselves in a similar boat? If so what did you do to restore it? Thanks in advance! I’m gonna keep searching for a solution but figured my nerdy brothers and sisters in r/steam deck would be the ones with the know how.
Try to reimage it first? 🤔
