    It would be quite the bet on this team. It would address the need for shooting and half court creation, so the fit isn’t a problem.

    I don’t think many believe it makes us a championship contender this year, but if ownership is willing to go into the tax then the plan would be to bet on Scottie’s continued rise to becoming a star. If Scottie becomes an all-NBA level player, then LaVine-Scottie-OG-Pascal can absolutely compete as a championship-caliber core.

    I get that people don’t want to do this though. If Scottie doesn’t turn into a superstar then this team doesn’t have a ceiling to make the finals and it’ll be a tough recovery without 3 of our FRPs.

    If the offers for Siakam are worse than the Hawks package from the offseason though, it’s probably a better bet than selling him and banking on a bunch of worse players fitting around Scottie well enough to make a good team.
