From forcing the Blake trade, to something even more detrimental, not letting his GMs pick their own coach, he’s committing basketball terrorism with our tax dollars.

Unlike Toronto where Masai hired their new coach, or Philly where Morey got to hire his new coach, our owner either hires his coaches before he hires a GM, or overrides his GMs so that they hire his guy.

Going back to Van Gundy, this has been an issue. After hiring and firing him, he hired Casey before finding a GM. He finally fires Casey, and then instead of letting his GM do his job, Gores gets in a yelling match(his words from Monty’s press conf) with Weaver to make him hire Monty.

Whether Weaver would have hired the right guy is irrelevant, Gores needs to let the basketball people do their jobs and just write the checks. I can only imagine what other decisions he’s muscled his way in on behind the scenes(Was Cade Weaver’s pick?).

It was reported that Ollie was his pick, and that there were disagreements in who to hire.

Then in the press conference all three of them spoke about the yelling match that took place between Weaver and Gores.

Sure Weaver might have wanted to initially, but once he found out about his family situation, he probably wanted a coach that could be 100% bought in and not just come coach here for the money.

Csnt even blame gores fully he’s spent money on coaches and has shown he will spend money if the gm thinks it’s a good idea. The Blake trade was dumb and impulsive but that was 5 years ago lol. We have had 8 frps and unless Duren Cade Ivey or maybe Ausar can consistently show us at least one potential all star, we’ve drafted 8 role players while every other team is finding their star to build around in the same time period.
