Everyone seems to be divided on Killian vs Ivey starting but I don’t see anyone talking about Marcus Sasser. Ivey struggles on defense and killian struggles on offense (primarily on making 3s) so maybe the answer is Marcus sasser? He’s a very good shooter, can score from anywhere on the floor, and can play decent defense too. The only downside to sasser I can see is his height. Could he be the best option to start next to Cade with monte and bojan out?
Disclaimer: I realize we’ve seen only a small sample size of Sasser but to me he’s been very impressive with the playing time he’s gotten
Killian is starting in place of the injured Monte Morris. Killian and Marcus will get the tenth spot in the rotation depending on matchups once Morris is healthy.
He’s a gunner. He’s shifty. He has the best dribble package on the team. I don’t know, but I find his game incredibly entertaining.
Reminder that Sasser is two years older than Ivey.
He played very in control and was decisive. He wasn’t hesitant on none of his decisions. He makes his shots. He played way more within himself then Ivey and Hayes. This was is first career game and he played like he belong. IF he keeps this up he will slowing take minutes away from Killian and put pressure on Ivey.
People forget that he’s older and more seasoned than both Hayes and Ivey. Even though he’s the “rookie” he may be more steady playing off Cade than Ivey and Kill
Don’t think so for this season, but if he’s the starter next to Cade in 2 years, I wouldn’t fall out of my chair in surprise. I think he got all the tools to become a solid starter in this league eventually.
However, my biggest wish is that we make a trade centered around Ivey to land a big, defensive wing who can shoot/score. Thinking either Bridges or OG. A line-up of Cade, Ausar and OG/Bridges would be sick.
Of course, if we keep Ivey and he becomes a good player I wouldn’t complain either.
Sasser will make Burks expendable. He will provide the shooting Burks gives and be better defender. Sasser feels more like a gunner 2 guard rather than a point.
Who believes Killian should be getting minutes over Ivey?
Watching the game I was indeed thinking, ‘I wouldn’t mind at all seeing sasser get Killians minutes.’ I think Hayes orchestrates offense better, but when starting with Cade, the role is more of a catch and shoot ordeal.
I like Ivey as a spark plug off the bench to lead the 2nd unit. Bad game for him obviously, but he’ll turn it around.
