I’m not making this post from a prestige perspective I’m making it because by winning Worlds you get access to micro transactions and these bring in millions of dollars to the teams and create an indefinite revenue stream. Not to mention having skins for a sponsor ran team like JDG is double win because it’s free marketing that people are essentially paying you to wear. Winning worlds is actually the one way to have a good ROI on a league team.

I can almost guarantee that JDG’s owners spent 16Million expecting to win worlds so despite winning literally everything else it doesn’t actually change their financial situation. The players are also aware of this because they also make big bank by winning worlds specifically. Of course you could argue that players don’t care about money (lol) but again this is one of if not the most expensive roster in the world.

I think it’s hard to say JDG is the best team ever created when they didn’t even win the one tournament that actually matters in any real measurable way. Winning domestically is important and impressive but if WBG wins then they actually had a more successful year than JDG from a pure financial perspective.

I’m sure people will be quick to disregard the financial implications and say it’s not that significant but the irony is that this is a money roster it’s public information that they spent nearly 20 million on this roster so apparently money is important if it can buy this roster. You can praise JDG’s players for performing well all year which is true but you have to acknowledge JDG management taking an L on the year.

TLDR: JDG’s year was the equivalent of beating all your friends in friendly matches then losing when you actually money match them.

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve read today. Congrats.

LPL and MSI are very serious tournaments that matter a great deal.
