TLDR: other teams lost their QB and slavaged their offense. The Jets have not

The AR Rodgers was catastrophic. And yes, it essentially ended any hope of a deep playoff run. But it didn’t excuse the Jets from even making an attempt to salvage the season. The main narrative you hear regarding the lack of changes with ZW or the playcalling is “why bother?! They’re screwed anyway!”

But let’s examine other NFL teams who have gad precarious QB situations:

Minnesota loses Kirk Cousins, who was playing at an mvp level. Despite being in a “reset” year already, they immediately trade for Josh Dobbs and make him QB 2. Despite multiple injuries on offense (including Jefferson), Dobbs comes in (as a 3rd stringer essentially) and wins two games. Again, without knowing the playbook or even his teammates. Why? Because the coach adapted as needed. And we’re 8+ weeks into Zach starting, and Saleh claims “we had the offense built for AR”. Inexcusable that more adjustments haven’t been made.

Okay, let’s just give Minnesota and O’Connell the benefit of the doubt. Dobbs might have been a lucky move.

What about the Raiders? After a disaster tenure, they fire McDaniels and their OC. They bench Jimmy G, in favor of a 4th round rookie QB, O’Connell (who is clearly a low ceiling kind of guy).

So, we have an interim rookie HC (Pierce), a rookie OC, Hargrove (who has never called plays professionally), and a rookie QB. On short notice. What do they do? They score 30 against the Giants, and do enough to win against the best defense in the league (arguably did better then the bills and other teams did against the Jets D).

So, it’s clear that drastic changes and responses to bad situations can work. Do they always? No. But the fact is, it’s 2023 in the NFL. The entire league is structured for offenses to do well. And the jets offense is WORSE then last year, even though Zach is playing better

We’re staring down the barrel of a lost season, and they still refuse to make changes. Whether that’s benching Zach, changing how they call plays, or having someone else call plays, there is 0 urgency. And that’s unacceptable

So, it’s clear that drastic changes and responses to bad situations can work.

Please see my earlier post – if you can’t rent a car, you can’t post on this sub.

“It’s Clear” based on two examples, with two weeks of history.

The only thing clear here – this post was unnecessary, knee-jerk, proves nothing, and adds nothing.

Maybe things can be clear after more time. Right now, it’s most definitely not “clear that drastic changes can work”.
