  • Really no incentive for a guy like Loomis to tank. Carr is abysmal for any long term plan.

Problem is someone above Loomis, presumably ownership, has to step in and demand some sort of reset. Not even a tank, but just one offseason of letting guys go and not signing a guy like Carr or any significant free agents

Honestly is the 5’8 even a barrier for a starting perimeter corner anymore? Obviously it’d be better if he was taller, lol. But Darius Williams is 5’8, was a starter for the Rams in the SB (and multiple years) and I’m pretty sure he’s doing good in Jacksonville.

To me Robertson plays above his height. Ideally he’d be more of a #2 corner, but I’d have no issues giving him a 2nd contract if it’s reasonable

  • I definitely am not against the kick. But with how good the team has been on 3rd and 4th and short since McDaniels got fired I would stay with the hot hand and go for it.

The sweeps they have done with Carter and Turner must be in the defenses head on 4th and 1. Should make a traditional sneak easier to convert. And they don’t struggle with the tush push like some teams.

  • Imagine having a boss. He’s a decent guy, but you can tell he’s out of his element. You feel your job is constantly at risk because of his overall leadership. Whether it’s his style, his approach, a combination of both, you know he’s the answer.

But after 2+ years (which in my dumb hypothetical, could be considered 10 years, since 2 years is a long ass time for an NFL player), he’s fired. He’s replaced by another boss. But the former boss, who has been “done” for almost a year, is now your new boss’ lieutenant.

Think about the chaos this would cause in the workplace. First, even if you loved your boss, having him stay is really awkward because he’s no longer the boss. That’s brings potential for the new boss to be hated.

Likewise, if you truly hated or at least loathed your old boss, but imagine still seeing him everyday and still having significant say in the business.

At the end of the day, the NFL is built for parity. I won’t speak on Hockey, but compared to the other major North American sports and especially compared to soccer, NFL franchises are giving the most “rope” to build a competent team out of any sport.

And that’s all I’m talking about, competency. Not super bowls, not playoff wins, not even a playoff appearance. Just a winning record.

4 years is an eternity in the NFL. If this was a MLB rebuild, we would expect better results after 4+ years. Teams build and lose SB windows on 4 years. And despite absolutely fleecing teams like Seattle and Carolina (gaining two firsts and a second, almost a free draft worth of top picks), the Jets are still looking at another losing season.

I doubt JD, Saleh, or even Hackett go anywhere. They gave the built in Rodgers excuse. But by any metric of success, JD has failed. Giving him a 5th full offseason is extremely risky, but most likely inevitable.
