Wow I didn’t realize he was -25. We really did a great job on him defensively tonight, but also Embiid has a tendency to coast/give up/get gassed when he’s really pushed. It’s arguably his worst flaw as a player, because he has almost everything else.
When we played them towards the end of the season last year, when they REALLY needed to win against us, he fucking murdered us and played at full effort. Last night, I think he was gassed from playing the night before and couldn’t deal with Horford’s energy level in trying to disrupt him. Basically, that’s not MVP type shit.
If you look at his season and Jokic’s season side by side from last year, there is no justification at all that Embiid should have won over Jokic. I think the voters were afraid to give Jokic 3 in a row even though it was 100% valid. Embiid is a great player, but he might go down as one of the least deserving MVP’s of all time, and I don’t see him winning one ever again.
The NBA awarded Embiid the MVP because Jokic hadn’t made it out of the second round except for the bubble.

They didn’t give it to a guy for never making it out of the second round except the year he did…and instead gave it to the guy who has never made it out of the second round at all.
