It’s not only October, that was just game one.
-
They looked like a team of YVNG BLVVDZ who met each other yesterday playing against a team starting three HOFers. Not a terribly shocking result.
-
The Blazers are not playing to win now in any way shape or form, nor should they. They played a rookie by far the most minutes which is really all you need to know about priorities (development > wins).
-
The main two things the Blazers are likely angling for this season (outside of player development) are a high lottery pick and trading away at least two players around the deadline for assets.
-
Most games won’t look that bad. Are there any teams with less combined NBA experience AND experience with each other out there? It’ll take months for this team to find anything that truly resembles a “rhythm” on a regular basis.

Where all the xCHILLxFOLKx at who just wanna see some local hoops and don’t care much about W/L this year??
In my opinion, we need to trade Matisse sooner rather than later. Toumani is a better rebounder and offensive player/play maker. Matisse is a game-changing defender, but not when he’s playing up a position.
Also, he has already attempted to leave for Dallas. Let’s change the narrative and finally have a front court with some positional size. I see the amazing potential of this group. Hopefully, we will stop shooting ourselves in the foot by playing guys at their true position.A lineup of:
Scoot/Ant
Shaedon/Ant
Camara/Murray
Grant/Timelord/Walker
Ayton/Timelord
Makes so much more sense. Having Ant/Timelord as your 6th and 7th men means we are set for our guards and big men. It’s that square pegged SG being forced into that round hole SF spot that kills the starters. I love Thybulle, but his offense is negative, and his defense is a lot less important when he’s playing up a position between 2 other starters and also playing up a position (I know Grant is a Combo 4 but he’s a small 4 who doesn’t rebound) let Camara take care of the dirty work responsibilities that Grant doesn’t like to, and maybe we become a better team immediately
Also, did anyone watch other games yesterday? Other young teams, like the Rockets, looked like trash the way the Blazers did.
Even though there were turnovers, the increase in pace is noticeable which is great. You can clearly see there’s a new system trying to be run offensively that involves more pace. It will be fun to watch, win, lose, or draw.
Sharpe looks poised to take a leap this year, he was way more under control and is deadly when he’s attacking downhill. Also his passing is very underrated.
Think he is at the point where he can actively pick on weaker defenders. They tried to hide Bones Hyland on him and Sharpe was able to go at him. Then when Kawhi was on Sharpe and we had enough spacing to clear out, Sharpe ran a beautiful PnR with Rob for an And1 dunk. It was a very high level read and I can’t wait to see more of Sharpe this season.
