  • I think strictly trying to chase the same models as previous champions isn’t the wisest move. At that point, you might as well just keep losing and trading off every player until you land a top 10 player ever like Bron/Steph/KD/Giannis/Joker/Kawhi. Scoot doesn’t look like any of the point guards that won a championship, but obviously you have to see what you have with him.

I think you have to try your best to reach a top 10 offense and defense. We have had a top 11 defense during the month of November and that is with injuries and having to play guys like Bouyea/Reath and just a rough stretch for us with injuries. I honestly think that we have a top 10 defense with the way guys are competing for us but our offense is dead last.

I think Simons is going to help a ton because of his spacing and his shooting gravity will make the game way easier for guys like Sharpe/Ayton

  • I still think Simons is the going to be the future for us. He already has paid his dues and will be the true heir to Dame. It’s so cool to see how close they ended up being despite the difference in age and the fact that Dame was so tight with CJ, he still managed to mentor and grow close with Simons and now we get to see what Dame predicted years ago that Simons was going to be the guy for this city when he is gone.

I understand people have their issues with Simons but I think this is going to be the year that everyone is going to realize that Simons is a future star. Not saying that Simons will reach Dame heights, but there was a clear leap that Dame kept taking year by year and once he turned 27 was when he went from All Star to All-Timer status through his progression. His first 5 years were amazing but his legendary work ethic kept going and from 2017-2023 was his peak years. I think if Simons can reach that if he continues to try to keep progressing like Dame did.

Regardless, I think Simons best years are ahead of him and people should be very excited about him.

  • I think Scoot is really going to have to prove himself to take the starting PG spot from Simons. I mean sure Simons can be a SG but I think Sharpe is already proving to be our SG of the future and Simons can be a Maxey level point guard. I know its extremely early but I think Scoot might end up being a Jalen Suggs type of great 3rd guard backing up Simons/Sharpe because I think those two might be tooo good to not play. I am just really high on those two as a backcourt because I think they provide such a great balance of size, shooting, athleticism.

  • I think Orlando should have went after Simons for a while now. I think the draft was a good chance to make something happen once it was clear we were taking Scoot but there was still the idea of making it work with Dame.

I don’t think we are going to move Simons this year because I think we are going to see how good he can be as the official #1 option and he was really taking on a leadership role for us. Leading annual rookie traditions, coaching up Ayton in training camp, really giving maximum effort on both ends to start the year.

Maybe if Scoot breaks out soon and proves that he has star potential and we are blown away with an offer to send Simons home. I think it would cost a pretty penny and would probably take a Dejounte Murray type of trade based on how I think Simons performs this year.

  • I am so excited to see Brogdon back. 4-5 from 3 is heaven sent compared to the shooting we have been getting since he went down. We finally managed to top 100 points again with him back because despite him missing time, he 19 points and 5 assists in 25 minutes. Just great production from a steady vet that we desperately needed.

I thought Sharpe had his burst back but just missed some bunnies at the rim and couldn’t nail his 3s sadly.

Shout to Jabari Walker who is averaging 9/5 on 50/37 shooting splits over the past 5 games. Really solid production off the bench and I think we should actually feed him more offense for the second unit because most of the time, I think he creates a good shot most of the time. Grant had his best passing game that I can remember. He was trending in a good direction with his playmaking once the ball was in his hands more in Detroit but this year it feels like he hasn’t passed the ball at all this year but this game he made legit passes.

If we get Scoot back, then I really think we are going to start picking up a lot more wins. I know people can look at our records and some of our performances lately and think we just are awful team but I think with Scoot/Brog/Simons back then we are going to look so much better.RIP CITY!!!

  • I appreciate that Grant can soak up offensive possessions for us while we are undermanned. He is a solid player but I don’t like the idea of Grant moving forward. He just doesn’t do enough to impact winning. He is a very solid offensive option that can shoot and create shots with his rim pressure. But, often times I don’t see him making real winning plays that a guy like Camara does. Not to say Grant is bad because he does dive for loose balls but he just isn’t there in regard to rebounding, screen setting, and playmaking.

When you got Scoot, Simons, Sharpe, Ayton, I think you got a ton of scoring and driving ability. Those should be the focus and then you can always find a guy like Levert to be a 6th man for us.

I think you have the guard situation set. Simons/Scoot/Sharpe and then you can keep a guy like Thybulle for additional 3 and D.

Pretty much we should be looking for another star 3/4 and another starting level forward as well. Camara and Walker MAY be able to reach that starting level status but you will still need another gem who we hopefully draft.

  • Very happy with his attitude and overall presence on the team so far. I know there were worries for some people on if Ayton would play hard or if he was coming here expecting a large role. I think he deserves a bigger one that he has now and I am glad we got him 17 shots yesterday. But, I think Ayton has been a great teammate all year. He said during an interview that even if he doesn’t get the ball, he just hopes people knock down shots after he sets a screen because he knows he has gravity there.

I know people called him soft but I think he has been pulling down some contested boards that I have been impressed with too. I think he has been very solid and I have little complaints besides issues that I don’t think can be changed at this point like his bad hands and lack of physicality in the post.

He is still scoring efficiently, rebounding great, very active defensively with his hands, and hasn’t even played with our two main playmakers yet (Mays might be our best actually…). I think Simons is going to be HUGE for Aytons game.

  • I think Sharpe started to learn how to make some drop off passes under the rim if he gets past his first defender. It was starting to click for him and it lead to two easy buckets for Ayton, one was an INSANE dunk over FOUR Jazz defenders!!! Goodness if Ayton played with that sort of fearlessness at the rim and through contact, he would be a top 5 center easily.

Really excited about our guards getting more comfortable playing with Ayton and the coaching staff getting Ayton more shot opportunities. Would love for him to get at least 15 shot attempts a night.
