Just watched the Jets Media All 22 recap, and my goodness, Zach balled out. In real time, I thought he made 2 critical errors: airmailing Cook and the INT. On the film, the miss to Cook was actually tipped at the line of scrimmage, and it looks like the INT was supposed to be a 5 yard stick route…but by Lazard lazily drifting out to 7 yards, it provided space for Spillane to undercut. I also thought hitting Breece in the flat was obvious, but with Newman getting beat instantly, I don’t know how Zach was supposed to have time to look Lazard off and hit Breece without taking a brutal sack.
Zach’s clear mistakes: a couple of small misses to Garrett, and bombing it to Taylor instead of taking a 25 yard gainer to Lazard. He had a few other beautiful throws (like the clutch 3rd down completion to Gipson) wiped away by awful penalties (MC chop block).
Other thoughts:
Breece may have had his worst game as a pro, he missed a couple of holes that would have been massive chunk plays
GW has to catch that bomb on the final drive, hits his chest before the safety gets there
OL run blocking is absolutely putrid - ZW moving the ball well despite no run game is impressive
