This kind of reach at 19 is why trading for a DE now, even if it costs some draft pick(s), isn’t crazy. Bralen Trice is a big, strong body and a good run-stopper, but his biggest weakness right now is pass rushing, especially if his initial bull rush doesn’t work.

As for other prospects, guys like Dallas Turner and Chop Robinson are a little small for what we like, and Laiatu Latu has a scary injury history with his neck. Maybe Jared Verse will pop in the later half of the college football season, but ever since he put on weight to move from 250 lbs to 260, he’s been slow and (mostly) ineffective. Unless a lesser-known prospect emerges later in the process, I don’t see a slam dunk DE prospect sitting there waiting for us.

If we can trade for a talented pass rusher who fits our system, like Danielle Hunter, Montez Sweat, Chase Young, etc., and then sign him to an extension, I’d do it. It really seems like we’re a premiere pass rusher away from being a big boy defense.

He only has one sack this year. Pass.

Power rushers don’t tend to work out in the NFL…

Unless they are generational talent like jalen carter… or Clowney or some shit coming out of college known for wrecking entire offenses single handedly.

Same thing with speed rushers too. Whether is power or speed… dudes gotta know how to use their hands extremely well to combine with that.

Not the best draft for pass rushers. Dallas Turner really only one comes straight to mind. Verse at fsu. But he has been quiet too. North Carolina has a guy with potential but cant think of his name rn.

Also we are going to have more sacks than we did last year…possible we already do.

Because the coverage is so much better so far. More sacks will come. This isn’t really an edge centric defense. I think andersen was part of the pass rush plans until he got hurt. Ellis hopefully contributes more going on. Ebiketie doesn’t really fit… should try and get something for him. Probably better in a 3/4 with smaller dline.
