Ok, so I understand that this game is a significant improvement over the first one, but I was completely blown away by the fact that IGN gave this game a 9/10. It seems like a pretty decent game, but it’s still very apparent to me the lack of polish and budget surrounding the game. I get a game doesn’t need insane production values to be a good game, but a lot of it seems like a genuine lack of skill in terms of game design and art direction. Not to crap on the ludocity developers, but their pedigree of games is mostly middling around shovelware and mediocrity. Some of the hit boxes don’t make any sense, characters like squidward can do ~90% off a single hit without even needing much of any real combo/tech chase, many of the hit boxes make no sense, some smash moves kill at 60% and others don’t kill at 160%, the supers look terrible and some don’t even have sound to them.
I’m really not trying to crap on the game, and I recognize the improvements and good ideas going on here, I guess all I’m really saying is I can’t believe IGN gave this a nearly perfect score when it seems more like a good 7-7/10 type of game. But I guess IGN reviews often don’t make much sense
