Any theories as to why Indy’s record at home is so bad? During our one season with Rivers in 2020, Indy was 6-2 at home. That’s the last season they had a winning record at home. Since then, they are 7-22 at LOS for a 31.8% winning percentage.

- 2021: 4-5

- 2022: 2-6

- 2023 (so far): 1-4

I get that the 2022 team was a disaster, and they wouldn’t have had a winning record anywhere they played, but this year’s team is much better and still 1-4 at home.

Personally, I don’t believe Indy will make the playoffs this year, and their play at home, coupled with the following two trends will be why:

- Steelers: We haven’t beaten them since 2008, and their strange dominance over us is approaching “curse” status. Throw out the records and rosters when these teams meet. For some cosmic reason, Pittsburgh owns them.

- Raiders: Colts and Raiders have played every year since Luck’s last season in 2018. For some strange reason, the visiting team has won every one of these games: Colts won on the road in 2018, 2020, and 2022. Raiders won on the road in 2019, 2021, 2023(?)

Field used to play fast for our offense, but we don’t necessarily draft for speed on offense any more.

We’ve been a bad team. Where have you been?

Poor play at the quarterback position. After Rivers, we’ve had Wentz, Ryan, and Minshew (mostly).

The team sucks. It’s a much cheaper ticket for the other teams fans to come see a game here than at their home stadium.

Matt Ryan was one of the absolute worst starting QBs I’ve ever seen. Had zero arm strength. Don’t think he ever connected on a pass farther than 25 yards.

The fans at the game don’t cheer, and at the first sign of losing the game they want to leave early “to beat the traffic”. That’s part of it.

It’s not that hard to figure out, we were average to bad in those 2.5 years. As a result, we had average to bad records.

I think the clear answer is that I need to be at more home games. We’ve never lost when I’ve seen the Colts at LOS (5-0 regular season, 1-0 preseason), dating back to 2002. So who wants to fly me in from DFW for every game???

The team has been so bad that we never get evening games and the weird shadows from the roof throw things off. Also we need to bring back the RCA dome and pipe in a little extra crowd noise from the speakers.

Also it’s hard to get the crowd excited when it’s nothing but 3 and outs.

    1. We haven’t had the QB since Luck to take advantage of the LOS.
    2. We’ve not had the receiving threats to expand the turf at LOS. Injuries and a rotations of receivers on rookie/udfa deals has been an issue.
    3. We play on turf but built an offense for going on the road and winning (run dominant) This is also because they were trying to protect the patches they’ve thrown in as QB’s over the last 4 years.

Once AR5 returns and plays a season, we will get a better idea of how Ballard will shift his team building approach to maximize his Rookie QB.
