Before the pitchforks come out, I just want to say that I think Ken was doing a bad job and that I hope this change works out and leads to a Super Bowl.

I’ve just been seeing a lot of Pro-Brady stuff and I wanted to contrast that with when he left the Panthers and the circumstances around that time. This article is super critical of him trying to coach up the corpse of Cam Newton, but I find the criticism of marrying the pass and the run ineffectively salient.

Now, I know Matt Rhule was a really bad coach - and I also know that Daboll had several bum tries at being an OC before it clicked into place for him. Here’s to hoping this is the change the offense needs to be more explosive and consistent!

What do you guys think? Just going from Dorsey to an average coordinator is just a step up? Is Brady actually a phenom wunderkind or the bum this article makes him out to be?

Go Bills, thanks for reading.

I don’t think anyone actually believes it’s going to be a complete 180 but hopefully at the very least he can snap Allen out of his funk

Idk but I think we’ll get a good picture of how much of the trouble was on Dorsey vs Allen’s decision making on Sunday

I reas the article and while it “blames” Brady, it really gives him credit. Each critiqued play says “well it should have worked, but,” and then goes to blame poor route running and lack of ability to shed coverage, poor QB readiness, and poor blocking. The plays themselves seemed to have actually worked.

Joe Brady was the OC for Carolina from 2020 to December 5th, 2021. In that time he had Teddy Bridgewater as his QB for 15 games in 2020 and PJ Walker as this QB for 1 game in 2020, and Sam Darnold as his QB for 9 games in 2021 and Cam Newton for 3 games before he was fired by HC Matt Rhule because he didn’t run the ball enough. But Christian McCaffrey, an All Pro RB, was injured for large portions of 2020 and 2021. CMC only payed in 3 games in 2020 due to a serious high ankle sprain and 7 games in 2021 due to a serious hamstring issue.

QB play matter if you want a successful offense and Joe Brady didn’t have any elite QB’s during his time at Carolina. It’s not a giant leap to say Josh Allen is the best QB that Joe Brady has coached since he coached Joe Burrow at LSU, who is also an elite QB. Cam Newton was a broken shell of himself in 2021 and retired shortly after, and all the rest of the QB’s that Brady worked with were average in Darnold, Walker and Bridgewater.

Going from Ken Dorsey to Joe Brady is a huge step up in terms of getting an OC that wants and is willing to make adjustments and tweaks to plays so the offense is not predictable. I would highly suggest watching the video below by Weekly Spiral that show’s slight changes and variations that Brady did to spread option passing concepts to stretch the field horizontally well he was at Carolina:
