Despite being less of a fan of Mercedes-Benz (due to their current design language), I’ll probably always own at least an older sports sedan (W204 C250), and convertible (R129 SL) from them.

I can think of a couple for us here in Europe.

First is Honda, proved by my father-in-law’s 2000 Civic EK hatch 1.4L 90hp with almost 300.000km and not a SINGLE major issue with it. It was a one-owner, garage kept car when he bought it, and it shows that when you take care of things, especially Hondas, they are rewarding and are great bang for the buck.

Last but not least, is Nissan, wit a 2000 Nissan Micra 1.3 that’s well taken care of, maintenance is in check is a rewarding feeling. A friend of mine bought a red one for a first car a few months ago and it’s the best car ever for everyone - learners, experienced drivers, weekend drivers, etc. Those things are everywhere here so spare parts are plenty for even if things do break.

First answer is Mazda. The Miata is simply too good.

Second answer is Ford. Their trucks are simply too good.

VAG for me. Between VW/Audi/Porsche there will always be plenty of choices for my garage bays.

None, but we do like our Jaguar enough to get an I Pace next time around.

Actually, to your point, my favorite German brand is BMW, followed by Audi, but historically Mercedes has been the “best” of the 3 in my opinion & they have my highest respect. Their S Class is the most popular luxury sedan in the world. Their G Class is proven in conflict zones. They held many awards / records in various motorsports.

I’m really hoping that BMW, and Mercedes-Benz turn around their design language, I miss the creases in the body lines. I’m also hoping we go back to actual gauges and buttons. The tactile feel that the German big 3 was part of what contributed to their ‘feel’.

Acura for me. My tsx is just reliable as ever at 155k. still fun to drive and all the Honda reliability with a more refined, comfortable interior.

      Owns two of them.

Their current design language doesn’t thrill me. Still love the older ones though.

I mean, you can just give them to me if you don’t like them.
