"Wade Phillips will be one proud papa when he sits in the stands in Denver and watches his son coach against the Broncos.
Phillips was Denver’s head coach from 1993-94 and also had stints as the team’s defensive coordinator from 1989-92 and 2015-16 when the team won Super Bowl 50. His son, Wes Phillips, is offensive coordinator for Minnesota, which will face the Broncos on Sunday Night Football at Empower Field at Mile High.
“They’re the talk of the league right now,’’ Wade Phillips said Wednesday about the Vikings.
Minnesota lost top-flight quarterback Kirk Cousins with a season-ending torn Achilles tendon Oct. 29 at Green Bay. The Vikings then traded with Arizona for quarterback Joshua Dobbs and he has led them to two straight wins, including having been named NFC offensive player of the week for his showing in his first game at Atlanta."
