  • "Thanks, Broncos, for giving Coloradans the opportunity to celebrate the holidaze.

    Who knew?

Be fuddled, be wildered, be mused, be happy. The Broncos will be in the NFL playoffs pursuit at Thanksgiving, then at Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and the first weekend in 2024.

The Broncos have won five and must win five more.

If they qualify for the postseason tournament as a wild card, the Broncos would play in the playoffs Jan. 13, 14 or 15, possibly against — cue the Phil Collins dramatic drum roll! — the Jaguars in Jacksonville or the Dolphins in Miami.

Who could forget the first time, the last time they met?

Should the Broncos beat one, they’d probably return to the state and confront the other."

  • "Wade Phillips will be one proud papa when he sits in the stands in Denver and watches his son coach against the Broncos.

Phillips was Denver’s head coach from 1993-94 and also had stints as the team’s defensive coordinator from 1989-92 and 2015-16 when the team won Super Bowl 50. His son, Wes Phillips, is offensive coordinator for Minnesota, which will face the Broncos on Sunday Night Football at Empower Field at Mile High.

“They’re the talk of the league right now,’’ Wade Phillips said Wednesday about the Vikings.

Minnesota lost top-flight quarterback Kirk Cousins with a season-ending torn Achilles tendon Oct. 29 at Green Bay. The Vikings then traded with Arizona for quarterback Joshua Dobbs and he has led them to two straight wins, including having been named NFC offensive player of the week for his showing in his first game at Atlanta."

  • "Hall of Fame edge rusher DeMarcus Ware will watch on television Monday night when the Broncos play at Buffalo. And it won’t be easy.

Ware played for the Broncos from 2014-16 and follows them closely. But they will be going against Ware’s good friend, edge rusher Von Miller, who played for Denver from 2011-21 and with the Bills will face his former team for the first time.

“I’m torn,’’ Ware told The Denver Gazette. “I’m a Von Miller fan, so I’ll be rooting for Von. But I’m also a Denver Broncos fan. It’s hard.”

How close is Ware to Miller? When Ware was a free agent in 2014 and searching for a new team, Miller called him and that sealed the deal on his decision to join the Broncos.

“I remember that call like it was yesterday,’’ Ware said. “He said, ‘I want you to be by my locker.’’’

Ware, who played for Dallas from 2005-13, had gotten to know Miller before the 2011 draft, when he was the No. 2 pick by Denver out of Texas A&M. Miller is from DeSoto, Texas, a Dallas suburb, and the two became fast friends and worked out together at times during the offseason."

I saw a discussion going around about this and this article is a bit longer if you’d like to read on, then it is not paywalled. Article by Chris Tomasson.
