I’m a veteran player who played way back in beta testing where Wraith king was still called skeleton king and also played DOTA 2 1 prior to DOTA 2(I miss my Garena days). Most of the players I’ve played with are also veterans, I don’t think DOTA is dying cause there are a lot of players still playing the game and also the meta changes are good every patch(no it isn’t). What do you think does Valve need to do to invite young people to the pro scene, increase it’s younger players and invite them to play the game aside from advertising?
At this point, you really can’t ignore marketing.
- Release DOTA 3 with a ton of marketing.
- Live action Dota 3 TV series
- A real Dota 3 Anime series
- Fix the Dota 3 Arcade (draws a lot of casuals in)
- Follow the Riot Games playbook in Korea but do it worldwide (the PBA Dota 2 league in the Philippines is a start)
- Copy the PUBG playbook with streamers when it first launched
Here’s a guide to get more young players:
- Get rid of a lot of complex mechanics
- Lower all cooldowns
- Re-introduce the jungle as a lane option
- Increase all gold bounties
- Introduce a seasonal battle pass with premium & free tier and small rewards
- Lower the health of everything (heroes, creeps, buildings)
- Pay streamers to promote the game
- Partner with (TikTok) influencers and introduce branded skins
There you go.
I doubt the current playerbase (including me) would like that though.by downgrading the graphics so hard allowing the game to be played with intel hd 4000 90 fps , or by making a x32 version of the game with very limited graphics, and allow whoever plays on the x32 version to be able to queue with normal dota users
just like league
and then by promoting the game to third world countries where people cant afford gaming pcs
look at free fire, look at those pubg lite, so many players
advertising. valve is giga bad at that. remember when the second season of dragon blood came out? no? well that’s because i only found out because netflix suggested it. i played lol for years and i would never go back to it. dota is just so much more deep+fun
