I know he looked like a rookie with a wet diaper in his one shot… but he was under prepared and faced a top 5 defense.
If Watson stays garbo, and we don’t have any good draft picks coming up, does it make sense to give the rook a chance to grow?
Is DTR that much riskier than Walker?
I’m sorry, but I’m going to be super pissed to throw a guy in “to grow” when we have a Super Bowl caliber defense and a lights out kicker…
Our focus needs to be on winning. DTR wasn’t even close to being ready for that game — in our division, we can’t be just throwing away games either. We are 4-2 and are in 3rd place and only one game above being tied for last…
At 4-2 with this defense, I think the strategy on offense needs be minimizing mistakes and doing just enough to win.
Of our two QB options available to execute that strategy, DTR is the lesser option (right now).
The best course for DTR is to run the scout team this season and get experience running the opponent’s offense against our starting defense in practice. I suspect he’d be better than PJ vs teams like Arizona and Denver but I’m really hoping we don’t need to find out. Another start like the last one would be crushing.
If Watson is out longer, roll with DTR. That being said, Seattle away is not the environment you want to rock with your shaky rookie QB
For now we just want our best chance to win. Walker has more experience and Watson… is Watson… We’ll see DTR in garbage time and when we clinch playoffs, don’t worry about it
DTR I am sure will get better but right now Walker is the better choice because of his experience and he is technically 2-0 lol
DTR is only getting thrown in if we have a Luke McCown situation ala 2004
(Lose 10 in a row, just gotta get through the week)
