Seems like Penix is the best or second best pure passer in the draft? Jayden is good and I’ll take him of course. But I’ve watched both many times and Penix really can sling it
One is balling vs SEC defenses other is struggling against bad pac 12 teams pretty simple
Pocket Qbs dont even dominate the NFL anymore.
Penix has an injury history and very poor mobility.
Being an nfl QB requires more than just throwing …now more than ever.
This is also not the team to be taking on a QB with limited mobility. Doesnt work for multiple reasons.
Because if Penix is a bust we’ll hear the same 3 penis jokes for the next 3-4 seasons
I would say Penix is the better passer and has the better arm. They both have their pros and cons though and are far from sure things. They are both going to be dissected during this draft cycle so looking forward to all the QBs being compared. It might come down to injury history and mobility if it comes down to choosing one of them.
SEC
Please not Jayden! Not unless he puts on some weight. They say he’s 210 but he looks 180.
Here’s another thing do…
If penix was a bust or gets hurt we’d be screwed. Plus the team would suffer miserably during the transition period of him trying to learn the game.
Penix moved from big10 to pac 12 because he was struggling in big10.
Daniels moved from pac12 to sec because he knew it would help him prepare for the next lvl and he knew he would still shine.
Already had big games against ranked teams with NFL talent. FSU…bama…ole miss…mizzou…plus sec teams like Auburn…florida and Arkansas that just play a different type of ball than pac12.
Even if Daniels takes a bit to adjust to the nfl with his passing game… he is going to play as well as anyone we have had last 2 seasons AT LEAST…throwing the ball.
Running the ball in rpo/zone read he is better than anyone we had. Is automatically up there with lamar and others as far as a runner. Could even argue he is as talent as bijan in that aspect. He is a different type of runner. But he is faster than bijan and would the fastest player on the team.
We have had problems with rpo and play action. He automatically improves those. He can throw a nice deep ball. Ridder has been ok making reads in rpo in the redzone but he hasnt been a dominate runner.
Daniels can counter all the things defenses have been doing to bottle up the offense. Even if he struggles a little at first throwing the ball as rookies do… defenses would not be able to clamp down and take away the entire offense like they have done with ridder
Daniels day 1 skill set fixes a lot limitations the offense has had. Especially chunk and longer td plays. He can get big plays running and throwing
Just adds way more than penix would to the offense. Only other guy that could add at a similar level is Maye.
Injury history and mobility.
Jayden Daniels has 7 tds tonight 5 passing 2 rushing 349 yards passing 96 rushing. Games not over yet. 4th quarter just started.
Penix 12-27 143 yards 2 tds.
Difference in Daniels is he puts up insane stats vs any and all opponents while these other guys struggle when they play good teams.
Also Daniels transferred to more difficult conference and got better.
The pac12 guys left tougher conferences. There are tons of them. Nix…williams…penix…the QB from Oregon state that left Clemson…(id fuck up his name)
Cam ward and sanders are only decent pac 12 qb that came from a smaller division…
But its no coencidence that guys that struggle in big10 acc and sec end up there.
Thing that scares me most is Penix has had like 3 leg reconstructions.
