PSA, check pricing before charging. I guess I won’t make that mistake again… I mistakenly picked the first DC Fast charger near me on this road trip. Has this happened to anyone else before?

I made similar mistake on German highway. There is a network of DC “fast” chargers that charge not by kWh, but by time. I forgot the name.

The trick is, it only starts on 40kW and then goes even down to 20kW of “DC fast charging”, so the time is running and you are paying for not much of a juice ;) And usually they have stands right next to ionity, which is probably the cheapest DC fast charging network in Europe.

    Well, you live, you learn…

DCFC’s really need a display standard like gas pumps. Price per kWh displayed prominently in a large 72 point font and a secondary 60 point that shows the total cost as it is being delivered so you can stop at any time during the process(if you need to). In addition, it needs to be a cash or credit no-app-bullshit interface. I hope the IRA has some influence on this. Thanks for posting this, OP, as it really is a valuable message.

I have come across a ChargePoint DCFC at a Hyundai dealership (open to public) which charges $3/hr and 125 kW maximum output. Its practically free money

Free supercharging from Tesla is looking better and better! At those rates it’s now worth about $1/mile driven!

That’s essentially theft. Nobody expects 1/2-1/3rd of a full charge to cost $100. They probably get a lot of people with that little game.
