Just my opinion, but as much as I would love a flyer on LaVine, absorbing that contract right at its beginning is too tough a pill to swallow, and I think the Bulls organization is going to have to recognize that too. He would definitely raise our ceiling by quite a bit, but his shots would have to come predominately from Keegan and Heurter.

Meh. Great player, but not sure it’s the fit for that “one last piece” we might need.

Nah we already have 3 great players to build around. Keep the picks and look for that defensive upgrade for HB

If anything guys, we should consider it an honor that an All-Star wants to come to Sac.

I’d rather stick with our guys. He’s too expensive yearly and I don’t wanna give up Huerter.

Zach is a classic player who doesn’t make his team better. His numbers are decent but I wouldn’t give up more than Davion Mitchell for him

I thought he used the kings as leverage so he can sign a bigger contract with the bulls a few years ago.

Contract aside, Lavine is a clear upgrade over Huerter, but his effectiveness here is largely dependent on whether or not he can buy-in into our system. He isn’t quite the movement shooter Huerter is, but Huerter isn’t even close to being the three-level scorer Lavine is. Can you imagine Lavine curling off a Domas DHO and going balls to the wall to the basket? Or being a legit lob threat as Domas playmakes on the elbow? Defensively, both are underwhelming, but Lavine’s athleticism definitely helps.

Again, it depends on his buy-in. If he can be integrated into our offense as a movement shooter as Huerter is but with a bit more freedom to create (because he can), then our team takes a leap. Plus I trust Mike Brown to hold him accountable on the defensive end.

But $40M+ a year? That’s a very tough pill to swallow and negates us from rounding out the rest of the roster.

Just to set the record straight, he’s a completely average defender. There seems to be some reddit memes running wild that he is bad. His on ball is quite good, his off ball is below average, but overall he’s not a defensive liability.

That contract would be nothing but an albatross. He’s ridiculously overpaid for what he brings to a team. Hence the reason why the new Bulls regime are moving on.
