I’m super glad to see the Thunder winning games and I would like to see a gradual but consistent move toward emphasizing winning vs pure player development. It is clear that the Thunder are an improved team with Chet, and have shown that they can stack wins, but can they do it in the playoffs?
The playoffs tend to be a different creature entirely than the regular season. Playoff rotations shrink and player development largely is completely out of the picture other than a rare blowout.
How do you guys see the Thunder performing if the playoffs started today? There are rotations being used early this season which have arguably cost us games. We have blown significant leads. Our defense at times has been suspect.
I think that if the playoffs started today we would have a hard time competing gainst teams with a dominant “big” like Denver. This team also has plenty of skill but I’m not sure that it has enough playoff IQ to not give games away.
SGA seems to be MVP chasing at times early this year. Giddey would have to be nearly eliminated from the playoff rotation if he plays the way he has up to this point.
You have a good core group (so far) with SGA, Chet, JDub, Dort, Joe, Micic, Kenrich, and Wallace. Right now, JWill and Giddey would be hard pressed to get minutes in playoff basketball.
How well do you think this team would (AS IT IS CURRENTLY PLAYING/COMPRISED) compete in the playoffs?
I don’t think anyone who has posted so far can read.
