Why are there so many people on this sub that seem content with Ivey’s potential and playing time being squashed by Killian and Kevin Knox in this current moment? We’re hindering his growth in a time when we have nothing to play for and I can’t figure it out for the life of me similar to how I can’t figure out how Luffy hasn’t found the One Piece yet in over 1000 episodes.
I’ll say this, I’m starting to like Killian, he’s been…better for the most part. However, it would be SO much better if the homie came off the bench. You can talk about defense and that’s why Ivey hasn’t started, but dude is trying his best out there and it seems that people are starting to hold him to higher standards than Cade Parker Cunningham and I just don’t understand why we as fans haven’t voice displeasure in the matter, or how reporters haven’t asked anything yet, or why Monty hasn’t changed the lineup yet even if it’s just a Killian Jaden swap.
Maybe when some of our work from home players get back into the fold there’ll be a switch, but think about this. Bogey has bad defense, but what does he do well? Shoot the ball from distance. Jaden has bad defense, but what does he do well? Explode off the dribble and collapse defenders. BOTH of those things together makes for a happier Cade with space to operate. However, once Bogey comes back, it’s not even a question if he’s starting because he will. Just like how, apparently, it’s not even a question whether or not number 23 will come off the bench, because, he probably will.
Make it make sense. I hope all of us free Ivey people eat our words as this season progresses and the homie is in the starting lineup, but all I see right now is all-star potential playing less than 20 minutes a game and people seem to be okay with that. Not like anyone cares, but for what it’s worth, I probably won’t watch another game till number 23 starts because even in another throw away year i could at least watch Cade and Jaden be our backcourt of the future while Duren terrorizes kids.
And let me also say I like Monty as a person (obviously don’t know him personally but from what I’ve seen seems real cool), and I like him as a coach and what he did with Phoenix, but right now he just does not make sense to me.
Have a good day, Miggy you the GOAT, Yzerman you a madlad, FTP, and go Pistons.
He played his season high in minutes last game. 29 minutes and he was the sub at the end of the game two games ago when Ausar was taken out. It seems like Ivey is slowly earning more time and he’s played exceptionally well recently. Seems like the strategy is working, but don’t let reality get in the way of your dissatisfaction.
