LT is the most important position on the o-line. Jenkins is an all-pro who has played well at LT in the past. Walker is a struggling 2nd year, seventh round pick. With all the issues on this team, can we at least get this super easy decision right?

I don’t know that this is a good idea. Jenkins hasn’t looked like himself since he got hurt against the Falcons. We saw last year that Jenkins had a really rough time when playing out of position and coming back from the injury, so I don’t see any reason to believe he’ll play better at LT than he has at LG. Then you add in the fact that now you have to replace him at LG. We saw Royce Newman this year and it was really bad. Maybe they could move Tom to LG and put Yosh in at RT, but Tom has been the best offensive lineman so far this season (Bakhtiari’s 1 game not withstanding). I’d rather not mess with the one good thing our offensive line has going for it. If we’re going to have Nijman, Tom, and Jenkins all on the field then I’d rather keep Tom at the spot where he’s been the best lineman on the team this year, keep Jenkins at his best position while he’s getting past the injury, and put Nijman at the spot where he’s historically played the best.
Granted all of this seems moot because the coaching staff seems to have it in for Nijman. I just don’t see the coaches actually changing the line, especially after Stenavich’s comments the other day.
