The other side of the “no bad losses” coin is that the Lions are our only good win.

I’m a pretty simple guy. The thing I’m most looking forward to is simply just watching the Packers.
By the Packers? Probably yes. By the rest of us? Probably not.
What about Al Harris? He’s been the DBs coach of the Cowboys (who currently have the second best defense in the league) for the past 3 years and DC is probably the next logical step for his coaching career.
Our biggest need is safety and it’s not close. Savage and Ford have been better than expected this year, but I don’t think they are who you want long term. Not to mention, both will be free agents. In fact the only safeties under contract for next season are Anthony Johnson Jr and Zayne Anderson.
Next up is tackle. We definitely need one, and depending on whether or not they want to move Tom inside, possibly two. Personally, I really hope that Bakhtiari gets his knee right and is able to come back and play, but from a team planning perspective you can’t count on that. Additionally, he’s just so expensive from a cap perspective that even if he were healthy there’s a decent chance the Packers might move on from him. Rasheed Walker is a nice player for a 7th round pick and you can get by with him, but at this point he’s not the guy you hang your hat on, if you can upgrade, you should.
As far as I’m aware coaches do not often sign extensions in-season. Head coaches might, but less likely for assistant coaches.
I too was a bit concerned hearing Matt praise Barry in his post game press conference. The chargers absolutely self destructed to even give us a shot at that game. I will give the defense credit for a beautiful 3 and out in the drive right after the Doubs TD. They had a chance to seal the game and did their part. Unfortunately the offense let them down and gave the chargers another shot, which they promptly threw in the garbage.
While that one drive was good to see, one good drive is nowhere near good enough.
But with Jordan Love being the most inaccurate QB in the league and most likely picking in the top 10, what are the chances that GB will draft a QB?
They won’t take a QB in the top 10 unless their pick gets into the top 3. If you look at the consensus draft board, Williams and Maye are the only ones in the top 20. They are almost certainly going to go in the top 3. QBs do often get over drafted, so some of the others might hop into the top 20, but unlikely the top 10, and the Packers tend to draft differently than a lot of other teams anyway. There are 4 QBs ranked between 20 and 40. I think a more likely scenario for the Packers taking a QB in the first round is if there’s a guy they really like in that range and they want to trade up from early in the second to get the 5th year option as an insurance policy knowing they’ve got another year to evaluate Love if they haven’t made up their mind on him at the end of this year.
Blocking. Go look up a highlight of Dillon’s 40 yard run from this weekend and just watch the offensive linemen. If we can consistently block like that, we can run the ball well.
Right now he definitely isn’t, but I still believe that he can be. Maybe he just needs some more time to grow. Maybe the coaches need to ask less of him so that he can focus his development more. Maybe he won’t ever make it there. He has a truly incredible athletic profile and if I knew how to get him to his potential I’d be making a lot of money coaching football instead of scrolling reddit while I make a cup of coffee.
This team can’t beat the Chargers or Chiefs or even Lions so it’s time to go all in on the draft picks for next year!
Anything can happen in the NFL, that’s why the circle of suck exists. As a whole the Packers are not better than the chargers, lions, or chiefs, but that doesn’t mean that on a random game day they can’t pull it off.
I think it probably was his best game. His accuracy could still use work, but it looks like it’s improving. He had two chances at a game winning drive and managed to march right down the field. Unfortunately they couldn’t capitalize on either, but the Steelers have the 4th best red zone defense in the NFL so it’s not terribly surprising.
As for the two picks, the first one is really just a great play by the defender and probably 8 times out of 10 it just falls incomplete. If he’d put it a bit higher the defender couldn’t have tipped it, but it would have been an awkward catch for Watson. The second one was just a rushed throw because of the pressure. The guard and center got manhandled and pushed right into his lap. I think ideally you want him to step up in the pocket there and buy a little more time, but I’m not sure he could have done that without taking a sack. He didn’t have enough time so he just took his primary read.
This is just a blatantly absurd take. Yes, Wicks is playing better than Watson right now, but he is nowhere close to being 10x the WR that Watson is. Maybe your memory is short enough that you don’t remember Watson lighting things up in the second half of last season, but it did still happen and I for one am willing to give him some time to find that again.
I don’t really watch much anymore, but back in the day when I watched LCS every weekend my favorite by far was Rivington.
12 year old me was really mad that they drafted a QB named Aaron Rodgers while they had Brett Favre on the team.
And 30 is a more valid cutoff than 25 considering we’re talking about the “insane luck” at the QB position that definitely couldn’t have had anything to do with the front office being able to recognize QB talent.
I 100% agree. The defense is playing well enough to not lose, but they aren’t playing well enough to win.
Much of the talk this week, and rightfully so, is that the defense is keeping us in games and the offense is letting us down. To a degree that’s true. The saying is that if you hold the other team under 20 points you expect to win. Our defense is doing that, but it’s not making big plays. If you paired this defense with the 2020 offense, you probably win 12 or 13 games again. But with a young struggling offense it just doesn’t work. All of our most experienced players are on defense, so they should be the ones carrying the load right now. The easiest way to do that is to stop playing to not be the reason we lost and to start playing to be the reason we win.
I’m ashamed that people don’t believe in Jordan Love
I can understand why people don’t believe in Love. Personally, I’ve seen enough to make me think that he’s going to turn out well, but I can see why someone might want to see more. What I don’t get is the people convinced he’s a bust. Yes, he’s made some bad decisions, but he’s also made some really good throws. In particular I have no patience for the people who look at the ricochet TD to Jayden Reed and think it’s anything but a good throw by Love. 1) he made the correct read that Doubs would be open. 2) he recognized the rusher in the throwing lane and lowered his arm angle to get the ball around him. 3) the ball was slightly behind Doubs, but still hit him right in the hands. Yeah, we got a lucky break on the bounce, but the only reason we even had a chance for a lucky break is because Love read everything right and hit Doubs right in the hands.
I don’t know that this is a good idea. Jenkins hasn’t looked like himself since he got hurt against the Falcons. We saw last year that Jenkins had a really rough time when playing out of position and coming back from the injury, so I don’t see any reason to believe he’ll play better at LT than he has at LG. Then you add in the fact that now you have to replace him at LG. We saw Royce Newman this year and it was really bad. Maybe they could move Tom to LG and put Yosh in at RT, but Tom has been the best offensive lineman so far this season (Bakhtiari’s 1 game not withstanding). I’d rather not mess with the one good thing our offensive line has going for it. If we’re going to have Nijman, Tom, and Jenkins all on the field then I’d rather keep Tom at the spot where he’s been the best lineman on the team this year, keep Jenkins at his best position while he’s getting past the injury, and put Nijman at the spot where he’s historically played the best.
Granted all of this seems moot because the coaching staff seems to have it in for Nijman. I just don’t see the coaches actually changing the line, especially after Stenavich’s comments the other day.
I always want the playoffs. Because you just never know when your quarterback is going to evolve into his hall of fame form, or when that random rookie who is playing due to injury is going to pop off and establish himself as a starter moving forward. The NFL playoffs are a crap shoot. Just get in and see what happens
