Just the title, when Riot decided to change up K’sante, his mains were fuming, they said K’sante was basically gutted into oblivion and it’d be pointless to pick the champ, even worse than the 45%'sante and now he’s gigabroken
Same goes for Zeri players, up until the MS nerfs, they talked about how weak and useless Zeri was and how they were basically Ryze mains, meanwhile the champion was consistently 2nd-4th most played chamlion in high elo on every server, with 48%-50% wr depending on region. They chalked the pickrate up to her just being fun. Yup, people unironically think korean high elo players pick champions because they’re fun, even though they’re famous for flaming you and dodging if you pick a useless champion. (Zeri is actually weak now after the MS nerfs, claiming she was weak beforehand was rather dumb).
Not to even mention them having panic attacks, crying about no buffs constantly, when Riot August himself mentioned that they’d buff Zeri after worlds.
I could go on and on talking about every subreddit and how they consider their champions weak and how bad their way of doing that is, like Qiyana mains pulling up challenger only stats the other day (you’d be surprised how many actually do that) and calling it a day, they always find problems that Riot needs to change, but do they really?
Riot balance team isn’t perfect, not by a long shot, I make mistakes, you make mistakes, but at the very least they have way more data and experience than us, some people don’t even listen to explanations that we get from Phreak and just jump at him for every change even if he got a valid reason (cough cough Seraphine changes).
But the problem lies withing Riot too, especially Phreak, I understand that he got death threats and multiple idiots bothering him, I’ve dealt with that and it affected my mental negatively enough for me to respond to everyone in a cynical manner, but he in a sense represents Riot Games in these videos, he should act more professional, the way he carries himself in these conversations really shows an individual that’s looking at others from above like they’re all clueless little monkeys that he needs to put down, it’s cynical and condescending, only thing it achieves is that it gives people actually valid reasons to dislike him, even tho I do believe he’s not a bad guy, he’s not really good at handling people.
In the end both sides can be wrong, I think if we’re respectful to each other we’ll achieve way more, unless you all want to end up with Riot Games basically hiding all their employees and using AI for all their communication purposes or even worse, not communicating at all.
Tl;dr - people use shit metrics for balance, they can be proven wrong just as easily, every main is biased, Riot balance can be ass but they at least have data and experience, Phreak is really bad at communicating, if we’re not respectful we’ll end up with AI or no communication.
You: My winrate is low, please buff my onetrick!
Me: Don’t buff my onetrick, other people will pick him.
We’re not the same.
