It’s easy to see why he gets compared to Mahomes. He creates that backyard sling it around atmosphere with his pocket presence and movement within the pocket then can literally make every throw from any angel. Oregon got some really good pressure and that’s probably the only way to slow him down.

Arm talent and playmaking ability are definitely on display. I don’t see this as a huge issue, but I do feel a lot of these scrambles are easy sacks for pro d-linemen. Maybe it’s an issue with processing speed or a bad habit of looking for the biggest plays, but I think it’s something that coaching can help with.

Honestly having watched a few full games of both though, I’d say the same about Maye and would MUCH rather him. Which ironically pains me as someone who went to Duke and is a big Duke fan. But Maye in bigger moments looks MUCH better consistently and has a lot of the same escapability and throws under pressure. Reminds me of why I was always told not to send a highlight reel but instead a full game to places because anyone can look good on the highlight reel

The irony of two of the best Giants ever coming from UNC. It’ll just be par for the course if Maye takes over for Jones and UNC therefore topples Duke yet again.
