And if Hawkins can get 4 assists and 5 rebounds (more than Zion) like he did last night in less than 30 minutes, then I’m getting sold on the idea. Sure he’s going to shoot, but if he can fill up the rest of the box sheet, then he’s going to be ready sooner than we realize it. Same for Dyson: 8 reb, 7 assists and ZERO turnovers. Dyson’s shooting is much closer to average this season from deep. We like it.

i mean i’m one of the believers the pelicans don’t need a “True Point guard” like everyone says but you dont want hawkins being your facilitator. Hawkins is more than a shooter. I am higher and have been higher on him than most but dont count on him creating for others at high volumes imo. dude a dawg fs

Yea I mean as long as we aren’t expecting Hawkins to be the next cj, bc they are different types of players imo. Not saying Hawk won’t grow his game to be a more tell wounded scorer (he’s only 10 games into his career) but CJ is one of the best pure scorers of this generation

I’d pump the brakes on best pure scorers of this generation. CJ is great for this squad, but in his entire career he’s never made an all star team. He’s a 20ppg scorer, and unfortunately in this generation there are plenty of them now that come out every season.

Averaging 20+ for 9 straight years as a 6’3 non athletic guard is pretty impressive scoring. I don’t really like to look at all star appearances. Doesn’t hold a lot of meaning to me, fan voting is an embarrassment. Especially bc he has been paired with Dame. No way in hell would 2 point guards on the same team get voted in

What people are overlooking with CJ is the one component that he provides that no one else on this team can provide. VETERAN LEADERSHIP.

You can’t put a price on that…especially with a young roster filled with players who have never experienced high pressure playoff games.

CJ is a calming presence. He alleviates pressure from Z and BI in crunch time. This team needs CJ
