Let me start by saying I’m completely out on Daniel Jones as the future of this franchise. I was really excited for his second year with good coaching and thought he would develop, but I’ve seen enough of Jones being unable to throw to the correct leverage, unable to identify the correct timings etc that I’m totally out
The idea that everything will all of a sudden get better as soon as we get the right QB is blatantly contradicted by the evidence. Just look at the Chargers with Justin Herbert, someone regarded by almost all analysts as a top 5 QB in terms of talent, but it’s not able to be realized for unknown reasons relating to team composition, OL talent, or coaching. Hell even look at the Ravens with Lamar or the Bills with Josh Allen, having the right QB does not somehow make constructing a well rounded and competitive team somehow trivial. I’ve seen this idea thrown around a lot (particularly by Dan Schneier of Big Blue Banter) and it is just clearly not true
The bidding war for the first two picks is going to be insane this year. There are at least a dozen teams in need of a QB and two guys head and shoulders above the rest. This is also a very deep draft class at WR and OT, two positions of need for us. If the giants end up with the first pick there is a realistic scenario where the bears have 2 and another QB needy team (NE, GB, AZ, LA) has 3. In this scenario the Giants would have an incredible amount of leverage, and if they’re able to finesse a trade with the Bears they would end up controlling access (and therefore the bidding war) for BOTH of the top two QBs. They would be able to come out of that scenario with two extra 2025 firsts plus whatever else they are able to leverage out of teams for the two trades, while still getting blue chip player at a position of need this year (and potentially MHJ who should be a transcendent talent at WR).
Finally, let’s also remember that you don’t need to pick 1/2 to get a franchise QB. Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll know this first hand bc they drafted Josh Allen at 7. Patrick Mahimes was drafted at 10, Justin Herbert was drafted at 5, Lamar Jackson was drafted at 32. The team has way way way too many holes to pass up the opportunity to build a draft haul that could be played forward multiple seasons in order to draft a QB
I would much rather have MHJ plus two 2025 firsts, plus two more 2024/5 second/third rounders than I would Caleb Williams, and i think you’d be insane to tjink otherwise
Quite the take
This is an overall absolutely terrible, braindead take.

We don’t have a “stud” WR but you really don’t need that in the modern NFL and I think overall we have at least three guys who qualify as “good”. We also have one of the best OTs in the entire league, who just ate the lunch of Micah Parsons, a potential DPOY, AFTER sustaining an injury.

Well first off, its coaching. How Brandon Staley has a job is beyond my comprehension.
Second off, the Chargers were a 5-11 afterthought before Herbert and have been at least respectable if not a playoff team every year he’s played. This is just blatantly wrong that he didn’t have an immediate and significant impact on his team.
If you take Caleb Williams now you lose out on 2/4 of cheap rookie contract years bc of Jones’ cap hit.
First round picks have fifth-year option built in. Jones can be cut prior to 2025 season. You’re getting likely four years of starts on a rookie deal, at least.
The bidding war for the first two picks is going to be insane this year.
…because the first two picks are widely projected to be franchise QBs that will go to multiple Pro Bowls.

No, you wouldn’t. Can you name the top WRs on KC, NE, DEN, PIT, NYG, SEA the years they won the SB? Was that guy ever considered even among the top-ten WRs in the league? How’d we do with OBJ in his prime? If anything, a stud receiving TE is way more important that a stud WR based on recent evidence.
Putting aside whether we could get that much of a haul (big “if”) literally nothing is more important than a top-tier franchise QB. Trading down, imo, is accepting another decade of mediocrity, at best. There is no guarantee with Caleb or Drake (or any player), but we have seen for five seasons now what average (at best) QB play gets you.
All those extra picks are, statistically, more likely (individually) to be busts than a 1.01/02.
For me, its Maye, all day!
What is the fanbase’s obsession with trading back? Thats how we draft Kadarius Toney instead of Micah Parsons. When a potential franchise changing player is in front of you, you take him.
We need to fix the line BEFORE we bring in a rookie QB.
Would you rather have Peyton Manning or Randy Moss on your team? For a career, having Peyton Manning on the team will make your team much better overall. If we can draft a guy like that, then we would instantly make our team better.
