I have a laptop from an old employer. They haven’t asked me to return it yet. I was wondering if I could open it up, replace the hard drive and set it up as a personal computer.

Then when (if??) they ask me to return it, I could pop the original storage back in and send it back?

Is this at all feasible? Or should I just leave it in storage and let it rot?
