Hello everyone, I recently bought a 2022 330i and I’m coming up on my 20k mile s service (I’ve been getting texts and notifications about it for the last 2 days lol). I was wondering on your guys opinion about getting my oil changed and a dealership or a local repair shop where I’ve gotten all my previous non bmw work done for years.

This is my first bmw and I’d like to become a lifelong customer, so all opinions on repairs now and in the future are greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks.

If the car is still covered by the warranty then all mandatory services should be done by the official dealer. However, if you want to change oil more frequently then you can go pretty much anywhere or do it yourself. But you have to use OEM liquids as if something will happen to your engine, they will take samples and if it turns out that you were using aftermarket oils then you are done my friend. Also, don’t touch the digital diary on your car.

If you still have included maintenance obviously go to the dealer. You are under no obligation to get maintenance done exclusively at the dealer otherwise . You can do it yourself or have a Euro mechanic do it. As long as you are using oil that meets BMW specs you are good.
