None of our first round picks will fetch more than a third (maybe a second). Not picking Jalen Carter, not focusing on getting Mayfield when the division is the weakest, so many missteps.
The guy drafted two slow receivers in Pitts and London and then try to cover that up by getting Van Jefferson as our speed guy. Dude needs to be gone just like AS. You don’t draft these receivers 4th and 8th overall if they have no deep threat speed. Terrible picks. And his second round picks have been the worst I have ever seen for the Falcons.
And then completely neglected the Falcons two biggest issues for three years in defensive end and QB is unacceptable.
I don’t understand why we would separate the two, it seems like Fontenot just helps Smith gets the guys he wants. Just let them go at the same time and start over.
Wait are we calling the van Jefferson trade a disaster because he dropped a throw once?
He’s basically tying his job to Ridder down this stretch. And that’s why you can never just wait this long to see if you have your guy or not. You don’t have all these years like he thought. It was always going to come down to this. So let’s see how he does now that the defense has clearly fallen back to earth. And if he can’t do it, then I’m glad most will see that both Smith and Ridder aren’t the long term answer.
