Because no point guard
- Too many turnovers - We are 24th in number of turnovers per game. Out of bounds, traveling, offensive fouls, and etc are okay. But I’ve seen too many pass misses which lead to easy fastbreak points. It is because we do not have a ‘reliable ball distributer’.
- Scoring drought in 4th quarter - We are 29th in 4th quarter points per game (only 0.2 points more than Portland), The defense becomes tougher in 4th quarter, but we do not have a ‘facilitator’ who can properly execute designed game plan. This problem may become more serious at Play-off games.
- Cannot maintain the lead - We’ve seen many games where we lost big leads in a short time. It is because we do not have a ‘floor general’ who can control the tempo.
- Disappointing bench production - We are 6th in starters points per game but 18th in bench points per game. As we may all agree, we have good bench players. But they are still minimum players and we need a PG who can initiate proper pattern play during bench time.
- Difficult to pass to Durant - One of KD’s main offensive options is post-up. But we do not have an ‘entry passer’ who can deliver the ball to KD.
Suns fan should know how important the point guard position is.
Ricky Rubio turned .232 team into .466 team and Chris Paul .466 team into .708 team. No need to mention Steve Nash who turned .354 team into .756 team.
I love point Book and I do not think we need so-called ‘starting caliber’ PG. But I believe we need to have at least one ‘real’ PG who can lead the bench time and, most of all, the clutch time.
I propose to trade Grayson Allen (8.9M) for T.J. McConnell (8.7M).
We may start the game with Beal - Booker - Small Forward - Durant - Nurkic
At the clutch time, Suns may end the game with small line-up of McConnell - Beal - Booker - Durant - Center.
Point Bol? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I’m actually surprised we’re only 24th in turnovers lol. Would have guessed bottom 3 honestly
The sun’s are struggling?
The suns have no pg?
Are you a visitor from the past??!
Allen can be in playoff rotation, mcconnell can’t. That alone means this trade can’t happen. Maybe we get tj anyways, but not for Allen.
If Allen is traded, it’d be for caruso.
Bingo
We are 18th in bench production because 2 of our reliable bench guys specifically GA and EG have been put unto starting roles due to injuries from Book and Beal. But not really worried about it as i see an increase in Bench production once our Big 3 becomes healthy altogether as one of GA and EG for sure will be coming of the bench. Other bench guys have been averaging 5-10pts per game which is more than enough for bench guys.
As for our turnovers and 4th qtr struggles, the return of Book have solved those problems from what we’ve seen the last 2 games. Having him as our starting PG is a no brainer, as long as he’s healthy we will minimize turnovers and avoid 4th qtr collapse.
But i do agree with you about having PG depth because despite Book being awesome he is still human, and he wont be able to play all the next coming games for sure. And during those games he isn’t available we cant accept losing just because Book is out. I do want TJ as backup PG but the only chance of having him is if he requests a trade for not seeing minutes and being out of rotation in recent games. Even if he does ask to be traded i don’t know who to trade as Indy seems to have all the pieces they need to compete right now. So i’m waiting with what happens to the Bulls situation if they decide to blow up the team and trade away Carusso i’d like it if the Suns try to get him.
I don’t think getting Caruso is possible
Grayson is essentially a starting player. Not sure swapping him for TJ, who wouldn’t see minutes when Booker is playing, makes sense. I like TJ, we just have to be careful here. I’ve personally been beating the drum for Olynk. Not perfect by any means, but he can do a little bit of everything and he could play either the 4 or 5
