So far, Batum has been better than PJ Tucker and he definitely fits well with our Starters. Hope everything is ok with is wife and I hope Nico is here all year. He can retire next offseason after he wins a title.

Definitely difficult to see Batum being included in any trade deadline packages when Joel is saying this about him:

“He’s the key. He’s special,” Embiid said when asked about Batum’s return. “With the way we play, he just fits everything we need. Great shooter, great defender, great passer, great basketball IQ. He just fits everything we need.”

    That’s a good thing imo.

Yeah I really don’t wanna trade all of our depth away, and don’t really even think we need a third star with a huge salary. I think we trade Morris, Kork and maybe KJ for salary, a single first and maybe some seconds to get another high level role player. It sounds like that’s what Embiid wants more than anything, as that’s what Batum is and it really does unlock this team.

If it turns out we do need a third star, we can address that over the off-season with a full max slot plus 4 FRPs we can trade at the draft. But this season, I don’t wanna get rid of the guys we have or change the vibe or energy of the team.

when the trade went through i only cared that the sixers got the draft assets they needed, i didn’t know much about the clippers bench. KJM has time to develop, morris is cooked, and roco has been quite good, but man batum has been something else. he’s brand new to the off/def schemes the sixers runs and somehow they all run much better with him on the floor.

he should take all the time he needs to settle personal matters. fans love to give players shit for making millions and not working hard enough for it, but at the end of the day uprooting your life so suddenly is awful for a family. his family doesn’t owe the fans an explanation. just hope he’ll stay here until we get a few rings.
